Mumbai, February 17: As the judges of the court are always busy with the long running cases, a clerk tried to free the judge from the work load by signing the files by himself.
Clerk Maruti Salunkhe of Ballard Metropolitan Court signed with fake signatures of the Judge on 105 files. The case came to limelight when the judge himself saw his signatures on a file which he actually had not signed.
And when the clerk was asked about the same, he accepted that he did the fake signatures and his only motive behind this was to dispose the pending files.
Salunkhe is under the custody of police and cases under IPC section 420 (Cheating), 465 (Punishment for forgery), 466 (Forgery of record of Court or of public register), 467 (Forgery of valuable security, will, etc), 471 (Using a forged document as genuine) and 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant) has been filed against him.
MRA Marg Police find out in preliminary investigation that the clerk has also signed the files of a finance company. Police is trying to find out that if the company or the employees of the company did not asked the clerk to do so.
Police officials told that when magistrate picked up a file from the bundles of the files, he saw that the file already contain his signatures. Later he picked many files, and all of them were having his signatures.
On giving the clarification to this, Salukhe said that his only motive was to complete the files and nothing else.
