Johannesburg, March 20: 18-time Grand Slam champion Swiss maestro Roger Federer lifted fifth Indian Wells Masters title and climbed four steps upwards to reach sixth spot in ATP rankings.
As a result, Federer replaced arch-rival Rafael Nadal from 6th, who got eliminated at the hand of the Swiss maestro in the fourth round in California, and got slipped one spot down on 7th.
Federer on Sunday once again displayed why he is called a legend as he defeated Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 7-5 in an all-Swiss final that lasted for one hour and 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, Andy Murray continues to remain at the top spot despite his second-round exit from Indian Wells while Novak Djokovic, who also made an early exit in the Southern Californian desert, retained the second spot ahead of third-placed Wawrinka.
