Delhi, February 17: For the upcoming Educational Session 2017-18, in all the CBSE schools, only NCERT textbooks would run. The decision was taken during a meeting headed by Union Resource Development Minister Prakash Jawdekar.
The kins of the students will get relief from this decision as the schools used to make them buy books of the private publishers, which are very costly, almost 300-600 % times higher.
One HRD official said that NCERT will be asked to provide books by March 31 in all the CBSE schools of the country in sufficient number. All the CBSE schools have to submit their demands for the books by February 22, 2017.
HRD ministry took this decision after the complaints by the schools and parents. Schools had complaint that NCERT books are not available on time. While the parents complaint that the schools are selling the books of private publishers at higher costs.
HRD official said that apart from the books by private publishers, the school also sell eraser, pencil and stationary on higher prices. If the parents buy the same things from outside, they will get it at relatively lower prices.
