DUSU Elections 2017 Voting Continues: Major battle between ABVP and NSUI

Voting for the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections going on today. In this election, the National Students Union of Indian National Congress (NSUI), the All India Student Council (ABVP) of the Rashtriya Swayam Sangh Sangh (RSS India), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM), the student union of India (SFI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist And Leninist) All India Students' Association (AISA) is the main contender for the four central panel seats in DUSU elections. According to latest updates till 1 PM 30 percent voting is recorded.

DUSU elections are being done on the basis of recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee accepted by the Constitution and Supreme Court of India. Delhi University introduced the nota in the previous elections and a large number of voters liked it. Candidates, who are participating in Day Class in the poll for DUSU 2017, will get an opportunity to vote from 8.30 am to 1 pm, while the evening classes one will get the chance to vote from 3.00 pm to 7.30 pm.

ABVP has brought Motilal Nehru College's, Rajat Chaudhary as its president candidate whereas Partha Rana, Mehmedha Nagar and Uma Shankar will contest the elections for vice-president, secretary and joint secretary respectively. At the same time NSUI has fielded Rocky Tuseed for the post of President, Kunal Seharawat for Vice President, Meenakshi Meena (Secretary) and Avinash Yadav as Joint Secretary. Rafat Alam for the post of SFI candidate, Jitender Kumar for the vice-presidential candidature, and Kolhachty Lakshmi secretary and Roshan have been fielded for joint secretary posts.
